Air Source Heat Pumps

The government is committed to supporting renewable technologies such as Heat Pumps to promote the move away from fossil fuels and address the climate emergency.

Key Points

  • Suitable for properties with limited outside space

  • Suitable for a range of domestic properties

  • ASHP operate even in extreme cold conditions -25 deg C

  • Produce water up to 80 deg C

  • Easy to install and ideal for retrofit properties

Heat pumps are the hub of a modern, green energy system. Replacing a traditional boiler, your heat pump powers your property's heating system to take care of all of the heating and hot water demands.

Heat pumps use a small amount of electrical energy to run the compressor, pumps and electronics to enable the refrigeration process to work. It uses low grade heat via the energy in the air or ground (1) Evaporator. The compressor compresses the low temp gas into high temp gas (2). The condenser gives up its energy, changes from gas-liquid condenses via a heat exchanger and provides the heat for hot water and heating (3). The expansion vessel changes the high pressure liquid into a low pressure liquid (4).

ASHP are perfect when paired with a well insulated property and Solar PV.
